The Best of the Twenty3 Toolbox: 2023

An historic year of football is almost at an end – and it has given the Twenty3 Toolbox plenty to sink its teeth into.

From Manchester City’s treble-winning campaign and Erling Haaland’s goalscoring heroics to Lionel Messi’s stunning move to Inter Miami, it has been a memorable 12 months for the sport.

As 2023 draws to a close, we take a look at some of our favourite examples of Content Toolbox graphics from a selection of our clients.

LiveScore

LiveScore’s third year of partnership with Twenty3 has been a fruitful one, with Toolbox graphics featuring in a myriad of far-reaching social posts and articles.

For example, these two posts from July focusing on Arsenal’s pre-season squad-building generated significant engagement.

Visualisations created using the Smart Graphics tool have been a regular feature of LiveScore’s analysis pieces, such as this one from August – written by Twenty3’s Callum Rice-Coates – which took a closer look at Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

Squawka

Long-time partners Squawka have made excellent use of the Content Toolbox this calendar year, especially on social media.

Player comparison radars in particular have been used to good effect, with these two successful examples from June and August honing in on Moises Caicedo’s transfer saga this summer, culminating in his big-money move from Brighton and Hove Albion to Chelsea.

Vanarama

Fans of clubs in the fifth and sixth tiers of England’s football pyramid pay close attention to Vanarama’s popular Team of the Week series.

The graphics – made using our Content Toolbox – are scrutinised by many a die-hard supporter on social media.

This year’s highlight has to be this trio of Team of the Season graphics, following the culmination of the 2022-23 campaign.

Sporting Life

Sporting Life – one of our newer partners – have been innovative with their use of Content Toolbox graphics, using them to supplement and add depth to a variety of articles.

They’ve also utilised them on social media, like the below xG timeline from Manchester United’s resilient defensive performance against Liverpool.

At the other end of the football pyramid, a piece assessing Kyle Wootton’s chances of scoring in Stockport County’s League Two clash with Aldershot Town featured a shot map for the 27-year-old forward.

William Hill

William Hill started using the Toolbox to elevate their social media channels back in September.

Since then, they’ve been posting a whole host of stats tables and visualisations – most recently looking at the xG battle in Manchester City’s draw with Crystal Palace, as well as Richarlison’s recent resurgence for Tottenham Hotspur.
